Batavia mutiny one step closer to becoming Hollywood movie – at PerthNow

Fear of God film company has started work on the screenplay about the Batavia murder spree.

The film will be based on the 1963 bestseller Islands of Angry Ghosts by WA author and veteran shipwreck hunter Hugh Edwards.

Edwards, 84, spilled the beans to Freo Streetwise magazine, revealing that Crowe’s company this month renewed the rights to film the maritime tragedy.

“They have a screenwriter working on it, but I’m not supposed to say anything about that,” Edwards told the publication.

The screenwriter is Andrew Anastasios, who worked on Crowe’s The Water Diviner.
