Burrabroadcaster.com.au has a lengthy account of The Water Diviner production bringing needed income to the local economy at the hotel, restaurants, businesses as well as employing locals. There are photos of Russell with local children and with James Packer. See it all at the link above. Excerpt:
Russell Crowe and Burra resident Terry Bevan have developed a friendship leading from the visit to the town in September 2013.
Bevan has shared conversation over a few brews with Crowe and says the actor is down to earth and like any other person in the street.
“You wouldn’t know that he’s a famous award winning actor. You’d just think he’s like me and you,
“I reckon he was looking around at a few places and Burra just grabbed him. That’s why they’re filming here. There’s lots of accommodation for everyone, lots of sites.
“A few locals have gained employment. And it’s good for businesses. It’s a terrific situation, it’s win/win.”
Bevan said Crowe has enjoyed the freedom of being able move freely around the town.
“He’s obviously able to wander around town when he can. People in Burra have been respecting his privacy and not hounding him.”
