Darren Aronofsky launches Noah art show

“NOAH” director Darren Aronofsky is launching an art exhibition in conjunction with his upcoming Biblical epic movie starring Russell Crowe, Page Six has learned. The director will curate “Fountains of the Deep: Visions of Noah and the Flood,” featuring never-before-seen works by more than 50 contemporary artists as well as comic book and street artists.

“The story of Noah and the book of Genesis has inspired artists for thousands of years,” Aronofsky told us. “I wanted to see what other artists would do [with the subject matter].”

The show, opening Mar. 7 at  Soho gallery space 462 West Broadway will include works by Mike Nelson, Ugo Rondinone, Sue Williams, Karen Kilimnik, Simon Bisley, Jim Lee and Brooklyn street art duo Faile, among others. “Noah” — which also stars Jennifer Connelly, Emma Watson and Anthony Hopkins — opens Mar. 28, the day before the art show will wrap on Mar. 29.

An opening party for the art show on Mar. 6 will bring together guests from Hollywood, the art world and the comic book cosmos, we hear. Aronofsky will release images of the artworks via his Twitter feed before the show opens.
