Additions To Saturday report-
Front Row seat Isle A 13 Right side right under Russell!
During Russell & Alan’s friendly banter on entry into the theatre , Russell pointed out a guy in the front row isle seat directly across from me & said he caught him looking into his dressing room window & joked about it. After the show I asked that guy if he really did & he said no, that Russell was his “Uncle Rusty ” and just fooling around! He was Russell’s nephew Nathan. Nice guy. He was very sweet & I loved hearing him say “Uncle Rusty” .
Sat after show Scott Grimes came out & talked to a few people, & I got to give him a hug & deliver some from some friends /fans who didn’t make it y’all know who u are) Scotty was a show stopper every night with his incredibly beautiful & powerful voice & great personality. Locals just buzzed about him. Bring CD’s next time Scotty !
Sunday I had an isle seat in the first row upper section by the entry doors . Same seat Susi had. No bad seat at the Jetty, but much prefer the close up & energy of the front row. Felt I had to behave back there!
Locals surrounded me . Had a nice chat with couple sitting to my left. They sang Russell’s praises as “a good bloke” who does much for the community. but who is very humble about it.” That’s our Russell & their Rusty! Kind, sweet, wonderful man with a heart as big as Australia. By the way, I have heard this same report from all the locals I’ve talked with. & have talked with lots. They all seemed to know his acting & films, but not his music. Well now they do. They loved you Russell!
The show begins. The show banter between Russell & Alan at the bar started . Joking about buying Alan Doyle’s -Boy On Bridge Album …If u don’t own it, your missing out need to get it! … & Hoodies & tanks.. Then the doors opened & in they came with wonderfully charming boyish grins & smiles . Just love those guys! I missed this from the front seats.. At one point Russell walked back to the door & stood right in front of me . Had I stretched my arm out I could have touched him . He was that close. My heart was jumping.. my smile large. Those eyes & that smile!! ….. The show rolled on.. #3 just as incredible as 1 & 2.
Somehow I managed to miss the live video interviews being done by South Sydney Media .. I was a always chatting on exiting or on the way to the loo behind a group & didn’t see. so won’t be hearing me on there. Just as well, because I’m not good at that & would be too emotional when telling how wonderful & talented Russell & the b’ys & gal are &how much it has personally meant to me to share in OZIGP with them. Probably would have stuttered, cried or rambled on as I’m doing here…
* A special moment for me that I will treasure always , was after the show Russell was walking to the bus, loaded down with both arms full of stuff, and he let me give him a hug. I was a happy gal. So gracious & kind & sweet even with arms full. Only thing is , I forgot to tell him who I was .. It was me Russell.. Lily that Texas gal who loves to send you hugs .
Monday – sat next to Alan’s #1 fan & publicity promoter @lyndahere. Fans from around the world filled the center front row. Russell said something about lean back & get to know your neighbor, & maybe you will get a massage. I yelled out “SCOTTY” & motioned down here with massaging hands, & ham that he is, he jumped on it getting closer to me & lower to stage floor hollering “Oh yeah Baby I’m on it”. or something like that..So funny ! Love that Scotty Grimes!
Alan”s Where I Belong” always gives me goosebumps. Love that song and the passion & pride in his voice when he sings of his home . Also love the expressions on his face when he ROCKS it out with his guitar. Have Owen & Moley’s Spiritual songs ” on my purchase list . Get it and be lifted. They are two of Ireland’s finest .. Tremendous voices & so funny. Russell Crowe- smooth operator -
G L O RI A. My fav . Moley is the master of the beat box. 2 great lads.
Sam’s new song , “Shoulda Got to Know Me ” Was stuck in my head. from each night . Such a great song. That little gal can sing! Her voice comes from her toes up & she powerfully delivers each song with such an incredible force…The female version of Scott Grimes and the perfect gal pal for Russell & the b’ys. Carl Falk works magic on his guitar and it sings by itself! Such an amazing sound! You Rock Carl!
Russell looked like he had gotten a shorter haircut & a trimmed up close beard. His every song amazing . His voice so tender and incredibly sensual . Crowe/Doyle Songbook songs always so awesome & all my fav songs . Love singing along with them. Love, Russell doing”Testify” always gets my adrenaline pumping. He is such a performer & knows how to get all us gals jumping. So fun – love the part where he turns his back & shakes ! Only no vids of it to take home this time. Additional Special guest tonight was Phil Jamieson an Australian friend of Russell’s . He was a cutie & outstanding on guitar. While he was up, “Beautiful Girls” started & I got so excited thinking the missing Kevin Durand was going to appear I yelled out his name, but He didn’t. Phil just stepped back away from the mike when it started & Kevin’s spot stayed open. Missed you Kevin! Love that Russell did that ..
*The surprise of the evening was when they left the stage but came back for the 2nd time after much , cheering, yelling , & stomping & Russell said he just felt like singin some more.. & he sure did ! Folsom Prison!. OMG ! We all went wild! Thank you for that gift Russell ! No one ever did or does that song better than you. Through the years you & it just get better … as you do with every song. You are a most amazing & incredibly talented man.
* I have Russell’s set list from Monday & I’ve shared it with Murph & TRC ***Security gal was kind enough to get it for me when my short arms tried to reach & failed.
* It was especially heartwarming to me to hear Russell sing “Raewyn ” with his parents & children there, and greatly pulled my heartstring when he talked about the past & needing new songs.
* Very happy to have met Russell’s charming Dad Alex. So would have liked to have his Mum too.
* It gave me a great joy to see Russell’s youngest son Tenny wearing a funky hat jammin away behind the stage curtains , while his Dad jammed back at him from his seat on the piano bench with a huge smile on his face… keep your eye on that young one.. won’t be long.
*It also gave me great joy to see both Russell’s sons Charlie & Tenny just hanging about the theatre. Happy they got to be part of it all.
* Enjoyed hangin with Micky in bits & pieces. He was surprised I knew all the songs. Hope he remembered…
* Enjoyed chatting with Woody, one of Russell’s security guards. He seemed like a man who never has no worries & he totally reminded me of Paul Hogan- Crocodile Dundee” although when I teasing asked him if he was he said- “Who’s he ,don’t know him. Good man that Woody.
*Natalie at the box office is a sweetie . Happy she got to see the show & helped me give homes to my extra tickets. Chris from Coffs & Peggy from India.
* Great to meet Twitter friends old & new- Jaruska, Susi, Deb, Ben, Lynda, Christine, George, Con, Peggy, Park Beach Music- Gavin & Caitlyn, and others.
* I asked Alan on Twitter if any night stood out to him. He replied ”
@alanthomasdoyle: @liltexasgal8 Loved the energy of Saturday, but we probably played best on Monday as we were getting used to it. ” From what I saw, y’all played the best EVERY night Alan !
