Rabbitohs Win Arm-wrestle Against Knights – Round 12, 2013
(excerpt).………After the break, George Burgess finally broke the deadlock in the 54th minute, bringing the Rabbitohs faithful to their feet with a barnstorming run from the 20 metre line, shrugging off five defenders in the process to score. Adam Reynolds converted to bring the score to 18-12.
In a blow to the Rabbits, Beau Champion was taken from the field in the 60th minute with a leg injury after he collided with Knights halfback Tyrone Roberts.
Issac Luke again spurred the Bunnies in to action with a great 40 metre dummy half run bringing the side within striking distance of the try line. A beautiful cut out pass from Ben Lowe sent Dylan Walker to score out wide for his second career try in the top grade. Adam Reynolds converted from the sideline to increase the lead to 24-12.
But a mistake on the first tackle from Jason Clark allowed Newcastle back within a converted try when James McManus capitalised by crossing in the corner, bringing the scores to 24-18.
With two minutes in the match remaining, Adam Reynolds put the result beyond doubt when he landed a booming 45 metre field goal to break the Knights’ backs and end the match 25-18.
The Rabbitohs will enjoy the bye before heading to Cairns to take on the Gold Coast Titans at home in round 14.
