One of our readers has sent us her opinion of Les Miz – with all the bashing being done lately, we thought it would be nice to put up a review we Crowe fans could all agree with.
From Tricia:
The film of Les Mis is superb – as a person who loves live theatre and usually do not take to my favourite Musical Shows being filmed – this film was outstanding. Great to have our two favourite Aussie actors together – of course Hugh did a magnificent job, just loved his performance, and a well deserved nomination - BUT Russell also deserves (in my humble opinion) a nomination as Best Supporting Male actor – his performance too was brilliant – he had the part down to a T – so believable. WELL DONE Hugh and Russell – but also all the cast – overall brilliantly acted and portrayed – I never go and see movies more than one, but this time will!! Les Mis is TOP VALUE.
Thanks, Tricia!

My husband is a Vietnam Veteran who hates going into crowded places, so when he took me to see Les Mis ( sold out ) I was suitably honoured. From the opening scene, the whole audience was enthralled. No one spoke or rustled packets of anything or got up to wander out ( as sometimes happens ) and you could have heard a pin drop, during the entire movie. As the credits rolled, the audience broke into thunderous applause. If it had been a live show we would have been screaming for encores. There were tears rolling down my husband’s face. We left without saying a word, got into our car and drove home in silence just, occassionally, exchanging smiles which said ‘ How amazing was that?? ‘
