From the touchline has this about Russell’s tweets on the Rugby World Cup:
A famous Kiwi is crowing
A tweet from Russell Crowe: “What an excellent tournament this Rugby World Cup has been. Congrats to all involved. A truly global event.”
Warm words of praise from the New Zealand-born actor, who is also the owner and lifelong supporter of Australian rugby league club South Sydney Rabbitohs and cousin of former Black Caps cricket captains, the brothers Martin and Jeff Crowe.
Crowe’s tweet is helping to spread the RWC 2011 message far and wide – he has 296,064 followers.
Russell also made it clear he was supporting the All Blacks, as he always has, with this tweet, which launched Round #712 of the Australians vs. the New Zealanders in the battle for his loyalty (and attacking him for perceived disloyalty):
from the deepest point in my soul I hope that Australia get everything they want out of the match, everything except victory #AllBlacks
Final score was Australia 6 - New Zealand 20
